Developing Positive Attitudes Towards Learning

Complacent Kyle uses observation techniques, motivational strategies, and reflection to help a struggling student succeed. In this artifact I demonstrate my ability to respond, plan, and intervene with intentional and purposeful strategies to help a student thrive within a classroom setting.

Policies, Practices, and Perspectives in Special Education

Diving into Special Education can be very overwhelming. There are many moving parts that are essential to the success of around 10% of all U.S. students. The Resource Binder I have created is a quick reference guide for all educators on the 13 disability categories under IDEA. This tool can be used as a quick check when implementing accommodations, modifications, and interventions for students receiving special education services.

Classroom & Behavior Management in the Inclusive Classroom

The success of any educator lies within their ability to create a positive and welcoming classroom culture with clear and consistent behavior management techniques. In order to support educators, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) can be implemented to address the behavior and academic needs of all students. By creating an inclusive school and classroom, you are allow all students to be successful. An example of some beginning thoughts to a school-wide PBIS Matrix is attached.

Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learning

Literacy instruction is a crucial component of the classroom experience and education of a child. In my final Case Study, I work with "Emily," a unique, intelligent student with some foundational literacy gaps. Through this case study, I was able to identify some of Emily's gaps through assessment data, tiered small group instruction, and hands-on activities.
